Information

Hey!

We are Topshelf Records. We started doing this in 2005 out of a love for music — particularly on the local level. Now, years later, We still strive to work with our bands and to provide them with support in any way that we can; to go beyond just releasing albums. We friggin' love doing this.

Shipping

Generally speaking, we ship most items within a day or two of receiving an order (exceptions being if we are waiting on more stock, if you've ordered multiple items and one is a pre-order or not in stock or what you've ordered is a pre-order).

If you’ve ordered from us and it seems like the price of shipping is way too high, here’s the deal: if you are charged too much for shipping, we’ll refund you the difference, promise. We currently don’t have our webstore set up to tie in the weight of each product so we have to make sure that we cover not only the cost of shipping locally, regionally and within the USA, but internationally as well. We realize it’s pretty annoying and are currently working on making things better — but for now — thanks for your patience and thanks for the support!

Formspring Us!

What is it that gets you interested in a band, as a label?

Hard working and great music tends to peak our interest

how did you guys get started? was there a lot of music industry experience before you began the label, or was it kind of trial by fire at first?

SO much trial and error and just not being quite sure of how to properly go about things when we started. Our only real "industry experience" prior to this was interning for Bridge Nine and doing freelance web & design work for bands. Really, we've just been fortunate to work with great, honest and hard working people on some awesome projects.

also, you guys are like the Sargent House of the east coast. love you.

Certainly good company to keep! Thanks!

what are some of your other favorite labels?

Sargent House, Tiny Engines, Count Your Lucky Stars, Rorschach, Big Scary Monsters, Protagonist, No Sleep, Run For Cover, Hardly Art, etc.

do you guys have a size chart, or give me an idea of the sizes and what not, please? by the way i love what you guys are doing, i'm stoked for what's coming.

We print nearly everything on Tultex 100% Ringspun cotton (pre-shrunk) or American Apparel 100% Ringspun cotton (not pre-shrunk) so you can go off that, I guess. Here's some size charts: http://secure.bluecollardistro.com/sizing/tultex/ AND http://www.americanapparel.net/sizing/default.asp?chart=mu.shirts. Thanks for the words and hope that helps!

Would you rather work at a large company or a small one?

it's not the size that matters. it's all about the motion in the ocean... errr, small.

you guys are probably my favorite label right now.

Awesome. I have a hunch you're gonna really dig what we have in the works then! Thanks a ton for the support!

what was the first band that helped you get started?

Our good buds in Aeroplane, 1929. They have a new album out with us now, actually.

I miss Stand Up Get Down. ;.;

We do too! A few of the former members play in various new projects: http://defense.bandcamp.com, http://www.myspace.com/snotrainbow, http://www.myspace.com/mountaininterval
